We can assist with everything from smaller local moves to larger residential and commercial relocations.

Which areas does Rapid Removals Scotland cover?

We provide removal services throughout Scotland and across the UK. Our coverage includes Stirling, Falkirk, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth, Fife, Livingston, Inverness, Alloa, St Andrews, Dunfermline and many surrounding areas.

We also undertake long-distance moves to and from locations throughout England, including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Bristol, Brighton, Oxford, York, Newcastle, Sunderland, Derby, Hull and other UK destinations.

Do you only carry out removals in Scotland?

No. Despite our name, our service is not restricted to Scotland. Rapid Removals Scotland provides UK-wide removals, including relocations between Scotland and England.

Do you handle both local and long-distance moves?

Yes. We undertake everything from short-distance moves within the same town or city to long-distance relocations hundreds of miles across the UK.

Do you provide house removals?

Yes. House removals are one of our core services. We can manage moves involving flats, apartments, houses and larger residential properties, with services tailored around the size and requirements of each move.

Do you provide office and commercial removals?

Yes. We provide professional office removal services for businesses relocating equipment, furniture, files and workplace contents. Commercial moves can be planned around the operational requirements of the business to help minimise disruption.

Do you offer student removals?

Yes. Our student removal service is designed for students moving between accommodation, university residences, private rentals and home.

We provide student removals across a range of university locations, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and St Andrews.

Can you handle small removals?

Yes. Not every customer needs a full removal vehicle. We can accommodate smaller moves and single-item requirements as well as complete household relocations.

Do you move single items?

Yes. Subject to availability and the item's requirements, we can provide transportation for individual pieces of furniture and other suitable items.

Can Rapid Removals Scotland handle specialist items?

Yes. We can assist with specialist removals including pianos, antiques, safes and motorcycles, depending on the individual item's specifications, access and handling requirements.

Specialist items should always be disclosed when requesting your quotation so that the correct equipment, vehicle capacity and manpower can be planned.
Quotes, Pricing & Booking

How do I get a removal quote?

You can request a quotation by providing us with details of your current property, destination, approximate volume of belongings, moving date and any additional services required.

For larger or more complex moves, additional information or a survey may be required so that we can accurately assess the job.

Is my removal quote fixed?

Your quotation is based on the information and circumstances known when it is prepared.

Additional charges can apply where the circumstances of the move materially change—for example, additional goods or services are requested, access differs from what was originally described, parking or permit costs are incurred, or other circumstances specified within our Terms & Conditions apply.

Does Rapid Removals Scotland have hidden charges?

No. Our Terms & Conditions specifically state that we do not apply hidden charges.

Any additional charge must relate to a genuine change in the job, an additional service requested by the customer, an access issue, parking or similar costs paid on the customer's behalf, or another circumstance covered by the Terms & Conditions.
Do you charge key waiting fees?

No. Rapid Removals Scotland does not charge key waiting fees when customers are waiting for keys during a house sale, purchase or tenancy handover.

If a delay fundamentally changes the service required—for example, the belongings need to be stored overnight or delivered on another day—genuinely additional services may be chargeable. Where reasonably possible, these costs will be explained and agreed with the customer.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a 25% booking deposit is required in cleared funds to secure your removal date. The deposit forms part of the total agreed price.

When is the remaining balance due?

Unless another payment arrangement has been agreed in writing, the remaining 75% balance is due on completion day in cleared funds.

What happens if I cancel my removal?
Under the current Terms & Conditions:

Seven working days or more before the move: no cancellation charge.

Less than seven working days before the move: the 25% booking deposit is retained.

The Terms state that this retained deposit is the only percentage cancellation charge applied.

Packing Services

Do you provide a professional packing service?

Yes. Rapid Removals Scotland offers a professional packing service for customers who want additional assistance preparing their belongings for transportation.

Our team can carefully prepare suitable household contents for the move, helping reduce the workload involved in moving home.

Can you pack my entire house?

Yes. A packing service can be incorporated into your removal depending on the requirements agreed when booking.

Can I pack my own belongings?

Yes. Customers can pack their own belongings if they prefer.

However, customers should ensure everything is appropriately packed and protected for transportation. Certain liability provisions also differ depending on whether items were professionally packed by us or packed by the customer.

Are fragile items covered if I pack them myself?

There are important restrictions.

Under the Terms & Conditions, liability for loss or damage to china, glassware and fragile items is generally excluded unless those items have been professionally packed and unpacked by Rapid Removals Scotland or our subcontractor, except as otherwise provided in the Terms.

Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

This service should be specifically agreed in writing.

Under the Terms & Conditions, dismantling or assembling unit furniture, system furniture, flat-pack items, fittings and fixtures is not automatically included in a standard quotation unless agreed in writing.

Will you disconnect my washing machine or appliances?

Not as part of the standard removal unless specifically agreed where appropriate. The Terms state that disconnecting, reconnecting, dismantling or reassembling appliances, fixtures, fittings or equipment is not included unless agreed in writing.

Storage

Does Rapid Removals Scotland offer storage?

Yes. We provide storage solutions that can be incorporated into your removal where required.

Storage can be particularly useful when there is a gap between properties, you're downsizing, renovating or simply need somewhere to keep belongings temporarily.

Can you collect my belongings for storage?

Collection and subsequent delivery can form part of the agreed storage/removal service, depending on the arrangement made with you.

What happens if my new property isn't ready?

If your belongings cannot be delivered through no fault of ours, the Terms allow them to be taken into storage. Additional storage and subsequent delivery services may then be chargeable.

Can I store anything?

No. Certain goods cannot normally be accepted for removal or storage.

These include prohibited or stolen goods, drugs, potentially dangerous or explosive items, gas bottles, aerosols, paints, firearms and ammunition. Restrictions also apply to valuables such as jewellery and money, plants, perishables, animals and certain goods requiring licences or government permissions.

Moving Day

Do I need to be present on moving day?

You or an authorised representative should be present during collection and delivery. The Terms also require authorised signatures on relevant inventories, receipts, waybills, job sheets or other applicable documents.

What should I do before the removal team arrives?

Everything not covered by an agreed packing service should be properly prepared for transportation.

Customers are also responsible for preparing and stabilising appliances and electronic equipment and for emptying, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators and freezers.

What happens if access is difficult?

Access should be discussed before moving day.

Additional costs can potentially arise where stairs, lifts or doorways prevent the free movement of goods, mechanical equipment or structural alteration becomes necessary, or the vehicle cannot reasonably load/unload within 20 metres of the doorway because of unsuitable access.

Providing accurate access information when requesting your quote helps us allocate appropriate resources.

Who is responsible for parking?

Any parking restrictions, permits or access requirements should be identified before moving day. Where Rapid Removals Scotland has to pay parking, permit, congestion, ferry, toll or similar charges to carry out the service, these costs may be charged to the customer under the Terms & Conditions.

What happens if there is a delay during my move?

We understand that delays can happen, particularly during property completions.

Normal key waiting during a house sale, purchase or tenancy handover does not attract a key waiting fee.

If circumstances mean the move genuinely cannot be completed that day and additional services become necessary—such as storage or redelivery—additional costs can apply as set out in the Terms.

Liability & Protection

Are my belongings protected during the move?

Rapid Removals Scotland accepts contractual liability for customers' goods subject to the provisions, limits and exclusions contained within our Terms & Conditions.

Customers should read the Terms & Conditions carefully before booking, particularly the sections concerning declaration of value, Standard Liability, Limited Liability and exclusions.

What is Standard Liability?

Where you provide a declaration of the value of your goods, Standard Liability provides contractual liability for qualifying loss or damage subject to the Terms & Conditions.

The current maximum liability is £50,000, unless a higher amount has been agreed. An additional charge may apply where a higher limit is accepted.

How is compensation calculated?

For qualifying loss or damage under Standard Liability, liability is assessed based on the lower cost of repair or replacement, taking into consideration the item's age and condition immediately before the loss or damage.

What happens if I don't declare the value of my belongings?

If you do not provide a declaration of value or do not require Standard Liability, Limited Liability applies as described within the Terms.

For qualifying loss or damage caused by our negligence or breach of contract, liability is subject to a maximum of £40 per item.

What counts as one item?

For liability purposes, the Terms define an item as either:

-
The entire contents of a box, parcel, package, carton or similar container; or
-
Any other object or thing moved, handled or stored by us.
-

What if you damage my property rather than my belongings?

Where Rapid Removals Scotland causes loss or damage to premises or property other than the goods being moved as a result of negligence or breach of contract, the Terms limit liability to making good the damaged area.

How quickly do I need to report damage?

Visible loss or damage should be reported in writing at delivery.

A claim must otherwise be notified in writing as soon as the loss or damage is discovered—or reasonably should have been discovered—and in any event within seven days of delivery. A written request to extend that period can be made within those seven days.

Long-Distance & UK Removals

Do you provide removals between Scotland and England?

Yes. Rapid Removals Scotland provides long-distance relocation services between Scotland and destinations throughout England and the wider UK.

Can you move me from England to Scotland?

Yes. Our long-distance service can accommodate customers relocating to Scotland as well as moving from Scotland to other parts of the UK, subject to availability and quotation.

Can you move an entire household long distance?

Yes. Long-distance moves can be planned around the volume of belongings, access at both properties, journey distance and any additional packing or storage requirements.

Do you provide return removals back to Scotland?

Long-distance services can be arranged in either direction. Availability and pricing will depend on the specific collection and delivery requirements.
Specialist Removals

Can you move a piano?

We offer specialist piano removal services, subject to assessment of the piano, access conditions and transportation requirements.

Make sure you identify the piano when requesting your quote rather than adding it on moving day.

Can you move antiques?

Yes. Antique and delicate-item removals can be discussed as part of your quotation. Items of unusual value, construction or fragility should always be declared beforehand.

Can you move a safe?

Safe removals may be available depending on the safe's weight, dimensions, location and access. We need accurate information in advance to determine whether the move can be carried out safely.

Do you transport motorcycles?

Motorcycle transportation can be arranged subject to the vehicle and journey requirements. Specific liability provisions apply to motor vehicles, so these should be discussed before booking.
